Dear members of ISSS,
I hope you are all keeping safe and remaining positive with the evolving situation with Covid 19 that is affecting all of us.
I am now completely working from home and teaching entirely online. My wife Gita is working entirely from home as well. So, we see more of each other these days and going for walks on the beach nearby, in-between working at home, to keep ourselves in a positive frame of mind.
After evaluating the local situation in South Africa with our Vice Presidents Rika Preiser and Roelien Goede the conference committee met this morning and decided that we will not hold the meeting and conference physically in Stellenbosch in July as planned. The decision will be ratified by the board on 2nd April when we have our next meeting. But this is an early announcement to you to modify your plans if you were planning to be at Stellenbosch.
Due to their expertise with virtual events Past President Peter Tuddenham and President Elect Delia MacNamara are now exploring the possibility of a virtual event to replace our meeting in July. We are also exploring holding an event in South Africa next year for all the reasons we decided to hold the conference there this year.
We have also requested Gary Smith and Javier Calvo-Amodio to advise us on how we can work on the Grand Challenge of Water at ISSS. This was one of the joint activities with INCOSE and IFSR which was planned in conjunction with our meeting in July.
After our board meeting on 2nd April we will communicate again with all of you, in more detail, on our further plans.
If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Makar, VP Administration at firstname.lastname@example.org
On behalf of the conference committee and the ISSS board

In December 2018 ISSS members began meeting online on a video conferencing system to share perspectives on the Special Integration Groups. These continued through 2019. In 2020 the focus shifted to exploring broader issues concerning the development and application of systems science and systems thinking.
The topic on Saturday 14 March was concerning the application of Systems Science and Systems Thinking to the world wide pandemic of COVID-19. The reconding is on this page. You need to be a member to view.
